《纽约时报》6月2日报导，巴西亚马逊雨林深处的原住民部落马鲁博（Marubo）原本与世隔绝，开始使用网路后，青少年使用手机和社群媒体成瘾、群组聊天充斥八卦、未成年人观看色情片等，变得懒惰散漫、无心打猎。

对此，马鲁博部落领袖马鲁比（Enoque Marub）12日在社群媒体上传影片，澄清关于族人使用网路后沉迷A片的报导不实，指控《纽约时报》不尊重原住民部落的自主权和身分认同，他还说：“幸好有网路，我们才能马上知道有关我们部落的这些假消息。”
而撰写这篇文章的《纽约时报》记者尼卡斯（Jack Nicas）再度前往当地采访，并在11日发表标题为“不，偏远的亚马逊部落并没有沉迷A片”的后续追踪报导，他在社群平台X上写道：“马鲁博部落并没有沉迷色情，报导里也没有这么写，我甚至不得不写下这句话，这真是令人难以置信的沮丧和悲伤。请停止分享这个谎言。”

Dozens of sites aggregated our story under a headline that falsely claimed the tribe got internet and then promptly became addicted to porn.
They used photos of the Marubo people. They made mocking videos. There have been memes. It is ugly.
